We lost a Detroit and baseball legend today. I may not have been old enough to appreciate the things you did for this city, but I certainly grew to love your mannerisms and competitive drive.
Your annual CATCH Children’s Charity golf outing took place at the country club I worked at and it was an honor serving you and the many others who brought a light into a child’s life.
You were an inspirational figure to us all. You will dearly be missed.
Sparky Anderson never lost his sense of humor — especially about himself.
Told once that he was “one of a kind,” Anderson replied: “You know what? That’s good. The world couldn’t take two of me.”
Now, sadly there isn’t even one of him.
